Join our patient-centered healthcare team as a Registered Vascular Technologist and play a vital role in performing high-quality, non-invasive vascular diagnostic examinations to evaluate vascular conditions and blood flow abnormalities. Using ultrasound and other vascular testing equipment, the RVT works closely with physicians and the rest of the clinical team to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of conditions affecting the arterial, venous, and peripheral vascular systems.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Perform arterial and venous ultrasound examinations and other non-invasive vascular diagnostic studies.
• Perform vascular studies in accordance with established protocols, physician orders, and clinical standards.
• Obtain accurate, high-quality ultrasound images and measurements necessary to assist physicians with diagnosis and treatment planning.
• Perform examinations used in the evaluation of vascular conditions, including deep vein thrombosis (DVT), peripheral arterial disease (PAD), carotid artery disease, venous insufficiency, and other arterial and venous disorders.
• Prepare and appropriately position patients for vascular examinations while maintaining patient comfort, privacy, and safety.
• Explain examinations and procedures to patients and address questions or concerns within the scope of the RVT role.
• Review relevant patient history and clinical information before performing examinations.
• Analyze vascular study data and prepare accurate preliminary findings and reports for physician review and interpretation.
• Communicate pertinent findings and clinical concerns to physicians and appropriate members of the healthcare team in a timely manner.
• Assist physicians and clinical staff with vascular-related procedures as appropriate and within the scope of the position.
• Maintain accurate and complete documentation of examinations, findings, and other required information in the electronic health record (EHR).
• Follow established protocols for vascular testing, infection prevention, patient safety, and quality control.
• Maintain, clean, and appropriately care for ultrasound equipment and related supplies.
• Perform routine equipment checks and identify or troubleshoot equipment issues as appropriate.
• Promptly report equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to the appropriate team member.
• Maintain an organized, clean, and patient-ready work environment.
• Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, medical assistants, front-office staff, and other members of the Well&You team.
• Participate in training, continuing education, quality improvement initiatives, and implementation of new clinical protocols as requested.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and all applicable Well&You policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned based on the needs of the practice.

Education and Experience

• Current registration as a Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) required.
• Experience performing venous and arterial ultrasound examinations required.
• Graduate of an accredited diagnostic medical sonography, vascular technology, or related program preferred.
• Previous experience in an outpatient vascular, cardiology, or interventional practice preferred.
• Current BLS certification preferred or required based on clinical responsibilities.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, sit, and perform vascular ultrasound examinations for extended periods.
• Ability to position and assist patients as required during examinations.
• Frequent use of hands, wrists, arms, and upper body while operating ultrasound equipment.
• Ability to maneuver ultrasound and related clinical equipment.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
• Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
