Join our patient-centered healthcare team as a CT Technologist and play a vital role in performing high-quality Computed Tomography (CT) examinations that assist physicians in the diagnosis, evaluation, and treatment of patients. Daily responsibilities include preparing and positioning patients, obtaining appropriate medical histories, establishing IV access when required, administering contrast according to established protocols, monitoring patients for reactions, and maintaining accurate clinical documentation.

Duties/Responsibilities

CT Imaging & Technical Responsibilities

• Perform CT examinations according to physician orders, established imaging protocols, and applicable clinical standards.
• Review physician orders and clinical indications prior to performing examinations to ensure the appropriate study and protocol are utilized.
• Operate CT imaging equipment safely and effectively to produce high-quality diagnostic images.
• Select and apply appropriate imaging parameters and protocols based on the examination, clinical indication, and patient-specific considerations.
• Properly position patients to obtain optimal diagnostic images while maintaining patient comfort, privacy, and safety.
• Evaluate completed images for positioning, coverage, motion, artifacts, technical quality, and diagnostic adequacy before final submission.
• Identify imaging quality concerns and repeat or obtain additional images when clinically and technically appropriate.
• Process, reconstruct, and appropriately transmit CT images according to established workflows.
• Ensure examinations are accurately associated with the correct patient, order, and clinical information.
• Maintain proficiency with CT equipment, imaging software, PACS, EMR, and other applicable clinical technology.
• Follow established quality assurance and quality control procedures for CT imaging.
• Identify equipment malfunctions or imaging quality concerns and promptly report them to the appropriate supervisor or service provider.

Patient Preparation & Care

• Verify patient identity using established patient identification procedures before each examination.
• Review and verify patient medical history, clinical indications, allergies, medications, previous imaging, and other relevant information.
• Complete required patient screening and verify that appropriate consent or documentation has been obtained.
• Explain CT examinations to patients in a clear, professional, and reassuring manner.
• Address patient questions and concerns within the scope of the CT Technologist role.
• Appropriately position and assist patients with mobility needs.
• Monitor patients throughout the examination for changes in condition, discomfort, anxiety, or other concerns.
• Recognize patient safety concerns and communicate them promptly to the appropriate physician, nurse, or clinical team member.
• Maintain patient privacy, dignity, comfort, and confidentiality throughout the imaging process.
• Provide an exceptional patient experience while maintaining efficient imaging workflows.

IV Access & Contrast Administration

• Establish peripheral IV access when required and within applicable training, credentialing, and organizational protocols.
• Verify contrast orders and follow established protocols before administration.
• Review relevant patient history, allergies, laboratory results, and other applicable information before contrast administration.
• Administer contrast media according to physician orders and established protocols when appropriately trained and authorized.
• Monitor patients before, during, and after contrast administration.
• Recognize signs and symptoms of contrast reactions, infiltration, or extravasation and respond according to established emergency and clinical protocols.
• Maintain readiness to assist during contrast-related or other medical emergencies.
• Accurately document contrast administration, IV information, patient response, and other required information in the medical record.

Radiation & Patient Safety

• Follow ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principles and established radiation safety practices.
• Utilize appropriate techniques to minimize unnecessary radiation exposure while maintaining diagnostic image quality.
• Follow appropriate radiation protection procedures for patients, staff, and visitors.
• Perform required screening related to pregnancy or potential pregnancy according to organizational protocols.
• Maintain knowledge of radiation safety standards and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Follow established infection prevention and control practices.
• Properly clean and disinfect imaging equipment and patient-contact surfaces between examinations.
• Follow emergency procedures and appropriately respond to changes in patient condition.
• Maintain current knowledge of patient safety and imaging best practices.

Documentation & Quality Assurance

• Maintain accurate and complete documentation within the electronic health record (EHR), imaging system, and other applicable systems.
• Accurately document completed examinations, contrast administration, patient history, technical information, and relevant patient observations.
• Maintain required imaging logs, equipment documentation, quality assurance records, and other applicable records.
• Ensure imaging studies are properly completed and routed for interpretation.
• Maintain accurate documentation of equipment maintenance, quality control, or service activities as assigned.
• Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement activities.
• Assist with development and implementation of CT imaging protocols and workflow improvements as appropriate.
• Identify opportunities to improve imaging quality, patient throughput, safety, and operational efficiency.

Equipment & Imaging Operations

• Perform routine equipment checks according to established procedures.
• Maintain CT rooms in a clean, organized, safe, and patient-ready condition.
• Ensure necessary imaging and patient-care supplies are available.
• Monitor supplies and notify the appropriate team member when replenishment is needed.
• Coordinate equipment service or repair needs with leadership and appropriate vendors.
• Protect imaging equipment from damage and ensure it is used according to manufacturer recommendations and organizational policies.
• Maintain awareness of scheduled examinations and help ensure efficient patient throughput.

Teamwork & Professional Responsibilities

• Collaborate effectively with radiologists, interventional radiologists, cardiologists, nurses, medical assistants, technologists, providers, and administrative staff.
• Communicate pertinent clinical or imaging information to appropriate members of the healthcare team.
• Coordinate imaging examinations with other clinical services to support efficient patient care.
• Assist with training and orientation of new employees, students, or other team members when requested.
• Participate in staff meetings, continuing education, cross-training, and quality improvement initiatives.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program required.
• Appropriate ARRT certification/registration required based on position and regulatory requirements.
• CT certification/registration preferred or required based on organizational and regulatory requirements.
• Current and applicable State of Florida radiologic technologist licensure/certification required.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• ACLS certification preferred depending on clinical responsibilities.
• Prior CT experience preferred.
• Experience performing contrast-enhanced CT examinations preferred.
• Experience establishing IV access preferred.
• Experience in an outpatient imaging, cardiology, vascular, or interventional environment preferred.
• Qualified new graduates may be considered based on experience, certification status, demonstrated competency, and organizational needs.
• Must maintain all licenses, registrations, certifications, and continuing education requirements applicable to the position.

Physical Requirements
