Join our patient-centered healthcare team as a Registered Nurse and play a critical role in delivering high-quality, patient-centered nursing care in a fast-paced outpatient procedural environment. The RN provides care throughout the preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases of procedures, working closely with physicians and the rest of the healthcare team to ensure patient safety, comfort, and positive clinical outcomes. Depending on experience and training, the RN may also provide intraoperative nursing care, including patient monitoring during moderate sedation.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to patients throughout the procedural process, including preoperative assessment, intraoperative care, and postoperative recovery.
• Perform comprehensive pre-procedure assessments, including reviewing medical histories, medications, allergies, laboratory results, and other pertinent clinical information.
• Prepare patients for procedures by initiating IV access, administering medications as ordered, completing required documentation, and providing appropriate patient education.
• Explain procedures and expectations to patients and families to promote understanding, comfort, and confidence.
• Provide intraoperative nursing care when appropriately trained and competent, including assisting with and monitoring patients receiving moderate sedation.
• Continuously monitor patients’ vital signs, cardiac rhythm, oxygenation, level of consciousness, pain level, and overall clinical condition during procedures and recovery.
• Recognize changes in patient condition and respond promptly and appropriately, including communicating concerns to the physician and other members of the clinical team.
• Administer medications, intravenous fluids, and other treatments in accordance with physician orders, nursing standards, and applicable policies.
• Assist physicians and other clinical team members during outpatient procedures.
• Maintain strict aseptic technique and follow infection prevention and control standards.
• Ensure that equipment, supplies, medications, and the procedural environment are appropriately prepared before each procedure.
• Participate in patient safety practices, including medication verification, procedural time-outs, patient identification, and other required safety protocols.
• Provide appropriate post-procedure and post-sedation monitoring until established discharge criteria are met.
• Educate patients and their families regarding discharge instructions, wound or access-site care, medication instructions, activity restrictions, pain management, warning signs, and follow-up care.
• Ensure patients and caregivers understand discharge instructions and know when to contact the practice or seek emergency medical attention.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and complete documentation in the electronic health record (EHR), including assessments, medications, interventions, patient responses, and outcomes.
• Follow Well&You policies and procedures and applicable regulatory, accreditation, patient safety, and quality standards.
• Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA requirements.
• Assist with emergency situations and maintain readiness to respond appropriately to changes in patient condition.
• Maintain clinical equipment and immediately report equipment or safety concerns to the appropriate team member.
• Assist with maintaining appropriate clinical and procedural supplies and notifying leadership of inventory needs.
• Work collaboratively with physicians, technologists, medical assistants, nursing staff, and other members of the healthcare team.
• Participate in staff training, cross-training, continuing education, quality improvement initiatives, and implementation of clinical protocols.
• Maintain required licenses, certifications, and competencies for the position.
• Perform other duties as assigned based on the needs of the practice.

Education and Experience

• Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Florida required.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
• Experience in an endovascular or vascular procedural setting preferred.
• Cardiac catheterization laboratory (Cath Lab) experience preferred.
• Cardiology experience preferred.
• Experience in an ASC, OBL, procedural, perioperative, or outpatient surgical environment preferred.
• Experience with moderate sedation and procedural patient monitoring preferred.
• Previous experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods during procedures and patient care.
• Must be able to assist with patient positioning and transfers.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
• Must be able to safely handle and maneuver clinical and procedural equipment.
• Requires frequent use of hands and arms when providing patient care and operating equipment.
• Must be able to respond quickly and appropriately during urgent or emergency patient situations.
• Potential occupational exposure to blood, bodily fluids, communicable diseases, and other healthcare-related hazards.
• Potential exposure to ionizing radiation in procedural areas; appropriate radiation safety practices and protective equipment must be utilized.
